KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) — IntuitTech Sdn Bhd, a pioneer and leading provider of Asterisk IP-PBX and Nagios Enterprise Monitoring solutions plans to spread its wings to seven countries next year.
The company which has its headquarters here, expects to do this through joint ventures with potential clients in the United States, Indonesia and Singapore besides entering as a sole entity in Switzerland, Australia, Afghanistan and the Cambodian market, its Chief Executive Officer and President Dr. Daniel Ali Aman-Krahenbuhl said.
"We are in talks with several parties besides having secured deals with clients from US, Singapore, Cambodia, Afghanistan and Switzerland so far," he told Bernama in a recent interview here.
The company focuses on two open source software that are making a huge difference in communications and networking, the open source PBX system, Asterisk and Nagios, the open source network monitoring and reconnaissance software.
"Over the past one year and a half, we have implemented and successfully deployed solutions and supported customers such as the US Army in Bhagdad, Maxis, Singtel, Royal Bank of Scotland, Bonuslink and others," said its Chief Technology Officer, Sanjay Willie during the interview.
The Asterisk solution offered by Intuit does Voice over IP (VoIP) in many protocols, and can inter operate with almost all standards-based telephony equipment using relatively inexpensive hardware.
Daniel Ali said the company designs the solutions according to the needs of its customers.
The professional solutions which Intuit offers include the support and consultancy services it provides for organizations that need assistance before, during and/or after an Asterisk or Nagios deployment.
"The demand for this technology is rising amid the weak economic environment globally due to advantages and cost saving factors," Daniel Ali said.
Sanjay said Intuit was making a significant difference in Malaysian companies due to the sharply reduced cost of deploying the solutions under the open source model, be it for a private company or government body.
Intuit which earned Malaysia a name by winning the "Big-Biz" award from the creators of the Asterisk product, Digium, recently in the US, is bullish in securing deals both in local and overseas.
Besides the international market, the company also expects to aggressively market its products and services in Malaysia, Daniel Ali said.
He said Intuit’s growth in Malaysia had been rapid, having contributed to the success of hundreds of companies in South East Asia.
The company is also looking into joint venture possibilities with local industry players to strengthen its presence in Malaysia.
"The team has been studying and analysing the requirements and demands in the market and we believe there are huge potential for business growth here," Daniel Ali said.
Towards this, the company expects to create a research and development platform in Malaysia to cater to local needs as well as the Asian market, with an estimated investment amount of about USD2 million.
"Currently, Intuit is working closely with the Malaysian Institute Of Microelectronic Systems (MIMOS) and also seeking for grants," he explained.
Daniel Ali also said the economic downturn had been in fact a positive factor for the company to advance and develop.
Intuit which started operations here in June 2007, currently has about 50 clients locally. It expects to double up the figure by next year.
Among its local clients are Giant, Hitachi, Petrofac Malaysia, BusinessFM, Mimos Bhd, Maxis and Monash University of Malaysia.
